Across the world, there are many intersectionality issues that affect youth sports, including the way that coaches and teams scoopkeeda interact with transgender and queer students. These issues are important to discuss because they are important to understand so that we can work towards ensuring that sports programs for all youth are equitable.
Transgender students Skill
Despite the many positive social benefits of sports, transgender students are often excluded from sports teams based on their gender identity. These bans are devastating for vulnerable transgender students. They deny them the life-saving benefits of sports participation, and they deny them the opportunity to develop leadership skills and learn teamwork. Moreover, these bans often expose youth to gender verification procedures that can be painful and traumatizing.
In the past year, transgender students were less likely to consider suicide in states with inclusive policies. This is important, because transgender youth are at higher risk for suicide and substance use. They also experience higher rates of bullying, harassment, and violence.
In addition, transgender students are at higher risk for depression and absenteeism. These negative health outcomes are especially harmful in rural areas, where health care and support services are scarce.

The FGs conducted for this study were piloted with coaches and young adults, with the aim of creating a guide that would provide coaches with concrete suggestions to increase the retention of youth members at their sport club.
