TV shows are quite a fun way to pass the time, aren’t they? You get to enjoy some jokes and funny moments, but then you also get to learn a lesson and you see some wholesome moments somewhere in there too. Modern Family is one of those shows that are packed with wholesome moments, hilarious banter, and meaningful conversations throughout. And this is why it won the hearts of so many people globally.
While many people were upset that the show was canceled, it was bound to happen at some point. The creators of the show, Steve Levitan and Chris Lloyd, said that the show was originally going to be 10 seasons long only, but later on, they felt the need to add a season after the 10th season. This is why the show did not continue and currently has no plans to, even if it had an amazing viewership rate.
While it is sad that such a good show had to end, fortunately, there are other shows that you might just like if you thoroughly enjoyed Modern Family. Let’s take a look at these shows!
Single Parents
Being a single parent is not easy. If anything, it is actually pretty easy to lose yourself in raising your children alone, providing for them, checking their homework, and much more. However, when the group meets Will, a single father who has spent his days doing nothing but making sure his daughter has her lunch packed for school and has helped nurse her back to health when she fell sick, they quickly realize that this man is in need of a fix-up!
To help him get back onto the dating scene, they devise a plan to help him realize that becoming a single parent doesn’t require you to have a non-existent social or love life. The show is 2 seasons long and you can stream it on Hulu. While the show was canceled after the second season due to poor ratings, it is a comfort show that gives you an escape from reality, which is why we recommend it too!
Kim’s Convenience
Kim’s Convenience is a show revolving around the Kim family, which happens to be a Korean-Canadian immigrant family living in Toronto. Now, if you have grown up with immigrant parents, you will find that this show is relatable in many aspects and exaggerated in others. Nonetheless, it makes for a good and hilarious show with the father trying to run a convenience store all the while trying to control his family and solve their issues.
This show is 5 seasons long and its last episode aired on April 13, 2021. It was canceled after the fifth season as the writers of the show decided to take on other projects. The show is generally a good and witty series and you can stream it on Netflix among other platforms.
The Middle
The Middle is another great sitcom that follows the struggles of a lower-middle-class family living in Indiana. The show follows a narrative style where Frankie tells stories about her family. Her husband, Mike, manages a local quarry, while Frankie is a salesperson at a used-car dealership. Later on, she goes on to become a dental assistant.
The couple has three kids: Axl, Sue, and Brick. As the three kids are just trying to get through school and their personal problems, we get to see how they are getting along (or not!).
The show is 9 seasons long and the creators decided to end it there since they were happy with how the show and the story played out. Just like how every home has its own problems in the Modern Family, this show also has its fair share of such problems making it just as meaningful to watch!
Friday Night Dinner
In this show, the Goodman family is a Jewish middle-class family that gets together for a Shabbat dinner, which happens to be a religious tradition, every Friday. The family consists of four members, the father, Martin, the mother, Jackie, and the two sons, Adam and Jonny. Adam is the eldest son and he happens to be a musician, while Jonny is the youngest son and he happens to be a real estate agent.
The family gets together on Fridays and enjoys dinner together, however, somehow, every week, they are interrupted by one thing or the other, be it their friendly neighbor, Jim, or anyone else.
This show, unfortunately, did not get the hype it so well deserved! It is 6 seasons long and the show is most probably not going to continue, or that’s how it seems so far. While we would love to see another season of this amazing series, of course, it is still one of the best shows of all time and so, it has made it to this list!
Coming to the End
In the end, you might be thinking if there was a way to watch these shows all on one platform or something like that. While you might not find them on the same channels, you can get a TV plan with all those channels and more! Channels like USA Network, CBC Television, ABC, Comedy Central, etc. are all packed with TV shows like this and more.
Xfinity is one such ISP that provides some of the best internet and TV plans to fulfill all your needs. And when we say all, we also mean the services they provide in Spanish! If you are interested in learning more about the Spanish services, just call Xfinity Servicio al Cliente.
That ends our list of TV shows to watch if you like Modern Family. Of course, they’re not 100% similar to Modern Family, but they fall along the same line, which is why they have made it to our list. Do give them all a try and see which one you like best. You could always search for other options once you’re done with these shows too! So, go ahead, turn on the TV and get watching!
