It is hard to imagine the modern world without non-fungible tokens (NFTs). People are even ready to pay a lot of money for them.
For instance, digital artist Mike “Beeple” Winkelmann is very popular, and his HUMAN ONE is no exception. It was sold for a whopping $28.9 million at a Christie’s auction in 2021. Interestingly, the auctioneer called the artwork a “triumphant follow-up to the artist’s notorious EVERYDAYS: The First 5000 Days”.
If you like non-fungible tokens, take a look at NFT ideas.
Beeple’s HUMAN ONE is a kinetic video sculpture with a corresponding dynamic NFT, dubbed by Beeple as “the first portrait of a human born in the metaverse.”
HUMAN ONE is a hybrid of physical as well as digital technology, featuring what appears to be an astronaut forever walking through changing landscapes projected on the four walls of its 4-foot-by-4-foot box.
Furthermore, it has a smart contract specially coded into it, which lets the creator of HUMAN ONE maintain remote control over what’s being displayed. As such, unlike other NFTs, it is a forever ‘in progress’ piece of digital artwork, making it worth paying the high price tag.
Interesting details about non-fungible tokens
Only a few NFT collections achieved cult-like status, and the CryptoPunks are surely at the top of the most popular tokens.
Larva Labs launched CryptoPunks launched in 2017. CryptoPunks was inspired by the London punk scene, the cyberpunk movement, and electronic music artists such as Daft Punk. Notably, capping off the list of the most expensive CryptoPunks is CryptoPunk #5822.
CryptoPunk #5822. was sold for roughly $23.7 million in February of 2022, and there’s seemingly good reason for the price tag; it is part of the series’ rarest alien edition, of which only nine exist out of the 10,000 punks available.
Furthermore, this token is one out of 333 others with a bandana. CryptoPunk #5822 was purchased by Deepak Thapliyal, the CEO of Chain. And given how rare CryptoPunk #5822 is, we can expect it to remain one of the most expensive NFTs out there.
Famous people and NFTs
We can continue with Alien Cryptopunk #7523.
It is desirable to remember that Alien CryptoPunks are a rare commodity in the crypto world, and that’s why Alien Cryptopunk #7523 was sold for $11.75 million.
Importantly, it is one of the only 9 Alien punks minted by Larva Labs. It comes with exclusive accessories like: earring (2459 punks have this). Interestingly, Shalom Meckenzie, who is the largest shareholder of DraftKings, bought CryptoPunk #7523.
TPunk #3442 also deserves to be on this list.
We already know why the Alien punks are so valuable; however, we need to mention TPunks as well.
Tpunks are seen as Tron’s version of CryptoPunks. Moreover, this one, to be specific, resembles the Joker, and while TPunks NFTs typically don’t sell for much, it went for $10.5 million at a sale held last year. Justin Sun, Tron c-founder and cryptocurrency mogul, bought TPunk #3442. Justin Sun didn’t keep the token, though, and has since donated it to the APENFT marketplace.
